A freelance Journalist based in Cork City. Recently, I graduated from a masters degree in journalism. This helped combine an examination of the traditional aspects of the trade, along with operating in the world of new media. This gave me an excellent grounding in disciplines such as taking photos, capturing audio and videos and editing pieces for upload to social media sites. The main areas that I have an interest in would include music, sports and current affairs. I have been a music fan from an early age and regularly attend live performances. Previously, I have been involved with gig promotion and organising buses for those attending. I have conducted a number of interviews, gig and album reviews for a variety of different websites. Sport has been a big part of my life growing up. I have played for many teams. Along with following teams from overseas, I am passionate about local sides. The stars of tomorrow are born on the fields and grounds around us. Since the summer, I have been writing and editing for a number of websites. News has always been important to me. For nearly three years, I presented a news and current affairs show through 98.3 PM out of U.C.C. I was responsible for interviewing guests, writing and editing scripts, news reading, debating the key issues and training new volunteers. Balance, accuracy and fairness are characteristics which may appear out-dated but they may be more important than ever. Journalists must be able to differentiate facts from opinions in order to be credible. I hope to build on the work that I have done already and prove myself.
